Rwanda is one of the countries in the Campus France "Études en France" procedure: for a bachelor's, a BUT or a master's at a connected institution, the application goes through the platform and the Kigali office. For first-year bachelor's, the prior admission request (DAP) closes on 15 December 2026, the national date for the 2027 intake. Campus France Rwanda has not yet published a calendar or fee for this campaign: this guide says so plainly, relies on what the office publishes (including its guide for the previous campaign) and tells you what to check. For the general logic of the platform, see our complete guide to Campus France.

- Programme in French: a DELF B2 is required, unless your secondary education was in French. It can be taken at the Institut français du Rwanda.
- Programme in English: the office's page sets no level; the institution specifies it.
- CV and cover letter: written in the language of the programme you are applying to.
Accepted tests are covered in our article on the Campus France French test.
Documents to prepare
- copy of your latest diploma, with an official French translation if the programme is in French;
- copy of your transcripts, translated if needed;
- copy of your passport or ID card (the card must be translated);
- DELF B2 for a programme in French;

- for architecture, a paper portfolio of about 15 bound pages, attached on the platform.
On interview day, the office requires the originals: original transcripts and report cards, diplomas or pass certificates. According to its guide, any incomplete file is refused at the interview.
The procedure in 8 steps
The "Je suis candidat" guide from Campus France Rwanda (October 2024 edition) sets out eight steps, in this order:
The same guide warns that universities rely only on this form to grant pre-registration. Fill it in with care, and report any problem to advisers through the Campus France messaging system.

For BUT and master's, the office has not yet published its 2027 date. During the previous campaign, it set 15 January for these programmes, interviews from January to 15 March, the final choice from April, and housing and visa from June to August. Campus France fees in Rwanda
The October 2024 guide set the application fee at 50,000 RWF; no fee specific to the 2027 campaign has been published so far. The payment method described:
Exempt: holders of a French baccalaureate less than four years old and French government scholars. No refund is possible in case of error, and the fee guarantees no pre-registration. The full departure budget is detailed in our article on Campus France fees.
The motivation interview
The appointment only opens once the file is validated and payment received. You choose a slot on the platform and print the notice. The interview takes place at the office, at the Centre culturel francophone, with the originals of your documents. It covers your study plan and your choice of programmes: write out your motivation beforehand, as you will be asked for it. Only after this appointment do institutions review your application. Our guide to the Campus France interview lists typical questions.
The student visa from Rwanda
The application is filed at the French embassy in Rwanda, in Kigali, once you have the admission letter.
If you were admitted directly, outside the platform, first contact the embassy's cultural service (SCAC). Campus France Rwanda advises starting the visa about two months before departure. The required funds are €877.50 per month, according to service-public.fr. Our guide to proving your funds lists the evidence, and the one on the student visa application the whole file.
Scholarships and negative answers
Campus France Rwanda relays the call for the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship 2027-2028, for master's and doctorate; our Eiffel scholarship page (in French) gives the conditions. The page of scholarships open to Rwandans (in French) gathers other programmes, with alerts before each deadline. If every answer is negative, our tips after a Campus France rejection help you bounce back.
Arriving with the Rwandan community
Before filing, the Campus France simulator (in French) places a file for free; its thresholds come from Beninese admits and only give a rough idea for Rwanda. On Compatri, the Rwandan diaspora page gathers communities city by city, and every 1 July Rwanda Independence Day brings compatriots together in the diaspora. Joining the community of your future city is free, even before universities answer.
Compatri is not a Campus France or government service: only information from Campus France Rwanda and the embassy is binding.
