Campus France Egypt has published its calendar for the 2027-2028 intake. The Études en France platform has been open since 1 October 2026, and two deadlines split the candidates: 15 December 2026 for first-year bachelor's, the DUT and schools of architecture, and 15 January 2027 for second and third-year bachelor's and master's. This guide follows the Egyptian route: the two offices in Cairo and Alexandria, the documents and their translation, the French test, the 4,800 EGP fee, the interview, then the pre-consular procedure and the visa at TLScontact. For the general logic of the platform, see also our complete guide to Campus France.

Campus France Egypt: who is concerned?

The Études en France procedure applies to Egyptian students and to foreign students from outside the Schengen area who live in Egypt. Egypt is indeed one of the 75 countries and territories where this procedure applies. Campus France Egypt distinguishes two procedures, both run on the platform:

Your situationProcedureWhen
You are looking for a programme at a connected institution (university, school of architecture, some schools)"Je suis candidat" applicationFrom 1 October 2026 to 15 December 2026 or 15 January 2027
You are already admitted, outside the platform or in an exchange programmePre-consular "Je suis accepté(e)"From 6 months to 4 weeks before departure
You hold a French baccalauréat and aim for the first yearParcoursupParcoursup calendar

The official brochure states it plainly: Campus France Egypt, a service of the Institut français d'Égypte, is the only operator recognised by the French authorities to support enrolment, and its procedure guarantees neither admission nor a visa.

Campus France Egypt dates 2027-2028

The official calendar published by the office sets these steps:

Target programmeOpeningSubmit the file beforeInterview beforeAnswers by"Je suis accepté" by
First-year bachelor's, DUT, school of architecture1 October 202615 December 202615 March 202730 April 202731 May 2027
Second and third-year bachelor's, master's (outside DAP)1 October 202615 January 202715 March 202730 April 202731 May 2027

Campus France Egypt notes that these dates may change and asks candidates to watch its website. After closing, the platform no longer accepts applications. A file submitted the day before the deadline leaves little time to respond to a correction request: aim for several weeks ahead. The comparison with other countries is in our Campus France calendar 2027-2028.

The application procedure in 6 steps

1Build your study plan: field, career plan, programmes and institutions, using the Campus France catalogue and help from an adviser by appointment.
2Create your account on Études en France with a valid email address.
3Enter your details and scan your supporting documents.
4Fill your basket of programmes and explain your motivation.
5Submit the file to Campus France Egypt, which checks it, then sends the payment details and the interview invitation, in Cairo or Alexandria.
6Attend the interview, then follow the institutions' answers in your account.

The basket holds 7 choices at most, all programmes combined. In first-year bachelor's, three university choices at most, ranked by priority, and two at a national school of architecture. From second year to master's, seven programmes, unranked.

Documents to prepare

  • valid passport (scanned copy) and recent photo of 50 KB at most;
  • for this year's school leavers (Thanaweya Amma 2026): transcripts for the 1st and 2nd year of secondary school;
  • for others: transcripts and diplomas since the baccalauréat, and a certificate of enrolment for the current year;
  • language certificate (or exam invitation);
  • CV and cover letter, any experience and internships.

All documents must be in French or English, or translated by a sworn translator. Campus France Egypt publishes the list of translation offices whose signature is registered with the French consulate general in Cairo. Bring the originals on the day of the interview.

French test: compulsory for Egyptians

French is not an official language in Egypt, so the notice for the demande d'admission préalable does not list the country among the exempt states. Campus France Egypt requires, depending on the language of the programme:

ProgrammeExpected certificateLevel
Taught in FrenchDELF B2, DALF C1 or C2, or TCF DAPB2 required for first-year bachelor's (DAP), at least B2 elsewhere
Taught in EnglishIELTS, TOEFL or TOEICSet by the institution, B2 recommended

The TCF DAP is held only at the Institut français d'Égypte in Mounira, Cairo. The DELF and DALF can also be taken in Heliopolis, in Alexandria and at the Alliance française in Port Said. The DELF and DALF are valid for life, the TCF for two years. Some programmes, especially in the humanities and social sciences, ask for C1 or C2. Register early: the result must be available at submission, or at least the exam invitation. Exemptions are detailed in our article on the Campus France French test, and the choice of an English test in IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo: which test to choose.

The Campus France interview in Egypt

The interview takes place at the nearest office, Cairo or Alexandria, before 15 March 2027. After the interview, the application procedure is over: the office gives an advisory opinion, and the institutions decide on the basis of your file. Prepare your background, your study plan, your career plan and your motivation, and be ready to speak French if the programme is taught in French. Our guides to the Campus France interview and to the questions asked to candidates from the Maghreb and the Middle East cover the typical questions.

Answers, choice and pre-consular procedure

Answers arrive on the platform until 30 April 2027. Once admitted, you confirm the chosen programme, by 31 May 2027 at the latest, then move on to the "Je suis accepté(e)" procedure:

  • admission obtained on the platform: you select "electronic acceptance from the Études en France platform", choose the programme, then download the acceptance certificate to print;
  • admission obtained outside the platform (non-connected institution, exchange): you create a "Je suis accepté(e)" file, attach the institution's certificate, pay 2,400 EGP and attend a pre-consular interview, one per account and per year.

Start this step at least 4 weeks and at most 6 months before departure. If all answers are negative, our tips after a Campus France refusal help you plan what comes next.

The student visa from Egypt: TLScontact

Campus France Egypt is clear: you cannot go to TLScontact without going through Campus France first. The order is:

1complete the pre-consular procedure and print the acceptance certificate;
2create the application on France-Visas;
3lodge the paper file at TLScontact.

For a stay of less than 90 days, the Campus France procedure does not apply: you apply directly for a short-stay visa at TLScontact. The long-stay visa that serves as a residence permit covers four months to one year. Prepare your funds early: at least €877.50 a month for a first application, according to Service-public.fr. Our guide to proving your resources lists the accepted proofs, and the one on the student visa application covers the whole file.

Scholarships: Rifaa Al-Tahtawi, Eiffel and others

Campus France Egypt presents several programmes. The Rifaa Al-Tahtawi master's scholarship of the Institut français d'Égypte gives a monthly allowance of €860, exemption from tuition fees at public institutions, a reserved room in a university residence and social security cover. The Eiffel scholarship (in French) cannot be requested by yourself: French institutions nominate their candidates. The French government scholarships through the embassies (in French) follow rules specific to each country. All scholarships open to Egyptians are gathered on our page scholarships for Egyptians (in French), with email alerts before each deadline, and our comparison of scholarships in Turkey, Morocco and Egypt covers other destinations.

Preparing your file with Compatri

Before submitting, Compatri's Campus France simulator (in French) shows where you stand compared with admitted candidates. Its thresholds were measured on Beninese candidates: for Egypt, they only give an order of magnitude. If you want a human eye on your file, the Campus France coaching (in French) is a paid service, with the price given at the first exchange. The volunteer mentors from the diaspora also answer questions about the studies they followed.

Arriving with the Egyptian community

On Compatri, the Egyptian diaspora page brings Egyptian communities together city by city, in France and in Belgium, and every 23 July Egypt's national day gathers compatriots in the diaspora. Joining the community of your future city is free, even before the universities answer. For the first year, our article on CROUS housing for international students explains how to request a room, and our comparison of the student budget in Paris, Lyon and Lille helps you cost the stay.

Compatri is not a service of Campus France or of the State, and does not replace the official source: only the information from Campus France Egypt, TLScontact and the consulate is binding.
