To study in France from Madagascar, the Campus France "Études en France" procedure is compulsory, for Malagasy nationals and for non-EU foreigners living in the country. The 2027 intake campaign has been open since 1 October 2026 and, for first-year bachelor's, the national deadline for the prior admission request (DAP) is 15 December 2026. Campus France Madagascar has not yet posted its detailed 2026-2027 calendar: its procedure page still describes the previous campaign. This guide gathers what is published: the Analakely and provincial offices, the 9 steps, the 425,000 Ar fee, the interview and the visa at TLScontact. For the general logic of the platform, see our complete guide to Campus France.

Conditions to check before applying
Campus France Madagascar sets no minimum average, but it lays down several conditions:
- recognised programme: check with the Ministry of Higher Education (MESUPRES) that your programme in Madagascar is recognised;
- coherence: the study plan must extend your path and serve your career plan; changing field is discouraged, unless you have solid experience in it;
- French: the DELF B2 or DALF C1 is strongly recommended, as most institutions require it;
- funds and housing: up to three guarantors, and housing no more than one hour's travel from the institution.
The procedure in 9 steps
Documents for the file
- national ID card or passport (birth certificate for a minor); a passport must remain valid for at least 15 months from September;
- transcripts since the baccalaureate, and for first year those of the last three years of secondary school;
- diplomas since the baccalaureate;
- proof of current activity (school certificate, internship or work certificate);
- up-to-date CV, payment receipt, any recommendation letters;
- DELF B2 or DALF, strongly recommended.
Each file weighs 500 KB at most (50 KB for the photo). Transcripts, diplomas and certificates must be certified less than three months ago: the baccalaureate office for baccalaureate documents, the school for school reports, the Alliance française for the DELF. Each motivation letter is limited to 2,500 characters; the office warns against templates copied from the internet.

Payment is made at a BMOI branch, to "Régie IFM/CEF MG" followed by your file code; the account number is on the procedure page. The fee is non-refundable, even if you withdraw, are not admitted or are refused a visa, and guarantees no pre-registration. One benefit: the full-rate payment entitles you to a half-rate visa fee. The full departure budget is detailed in our article on Campus France fees.
The motivation interview
The interview date appears in your Études en France account. Bring your ID, the originals of the file and the printed notice. The adviser checks the documents and programme choices, then assesses your motivation, your plan and your level of French and other languages. Any additional documents requested must be sent within 15 days. The adviser does not decide admission: academic committees and the consulate have the final say. Our guide to the Campus France interview lists typical questions.
The student visa from Madagascar: TLScontact
Since 1 July 2024, the TLScontact appointment must be booked through Campus France Madagascar, online only, via a form on the Institut français de Madagascar website.
Only the consulate decides on the visa. For funds, the Campus France Madagascar page still shows the former threshold of €615 per month; the amount required is now €877.50 per month, according to service-public.fr. Our guide to proving your funds details the evidence, and the one on the student visa application the whole file. Never submit a false document: Campus France warns it leads to prosecution and immediate visa refusal.
Scholarships and negative answers
Campus France Madagascar publishes France Excellence calls every year (CampusArt, high-level scientific stays, agricultural BTSA). Our page on French embassy scholarships (in French) explains how they work, and the page of scholarships open to Malagasy students (in French) gathers other programmes, with alerts before each deadline. If every answer is negative, our tips after a Campus France rejection help you plan what comes next.
Arriving with the Malagasy community
Before filing, the Campus France simulator (in French) places a file for free; its thresholds come from Beninese admits and only give a rough idea for Madagascar. On Compatri, the Malagasy diaspora page gathers communities city by city, and every 26 June Madagascar Independence Day brings compatriots together in the diaspora. Joining the community of your future city is free, even before universities answer.
Compatri is not a Campus France or government service: only information from Campus France Madagascar and the consulate is binding.
