Campus France Central African Republic sets two dates for the 2027 intake: before 15 December 2026 for a first-year bachelor's, before 30 January 2027 for all other programmes (second and third-year bachelor's, professional bachelor's, BUT, master's, engineering degree). This guide follows the route specific to the Central African Republic: the office at the Alliance française in Bangui, the 60,000 FCFA paid at Ecobank, the paper file to have checked on site, the interview, then the visa at the French consulate. Campus France Central African Republic: who does it apply to?
Campus France Central African Republic is a service of the French embassy in the CAR, for Central Africans and foreigners living in the Central African Republic who want to pursue higher education in France. It describes itself as the only official body for pre-registration in French higher education and for student visa applications in the country.
| Your situation | Procedure |
|---|---|
| Application to a connected programme (bachelor's, BUT, master's, engineering school) | Études en France, "Je suis candidat", 7 choices at most |
| Admission obtained outside the platform (Parcoursup, non-connected institution) | "Je suis accepté", choosing an acceptance received outside the application |
Campus France oversees the academic side of the project. It plays no part in the visa decision, which rests solely with the French consulate in the Central African Republic.

Campus France fees in the Central African Republic
The file fee is 60,000 FCFA, by deposit into the Ecobank account of the Institut français in the CAR. Three rules:
- the payment is valid for one application campaign only;
- the receipt must be made out in the name of the student applying;
- the receipt must be scanned and uploaded to Études en France, then shown to the office with your documents.
It also counts for the visa: on presentation of the Campus France receipt, the consulate applies the half rate of 33,000 FCFA. The full budget for leaving is in our article on Campus France fees.
French test: check according to your schooling
The official notice for the prior admission application lists the Central African Republic among countries where French is an official language but not the only one, alongside Sango. You are exempt from the TCF for a first-year bachelor's if most of your secondary education was in French, which is the most common case. Still attach any certificate you have: the office asks for it in its list of documents, and the interview is also used to confirm your level of French. Details are in our article on the Campus France French test.
The Campus France interview in the Central African Republic
The academic interview is an integral part of the procedure and is compulsory, even if you have already been admitted to a programme. It assesses the coherence of your project, your seriousness and your motivation, and is used to authenticate your documents and confirm your level of French. Afterwards, a report and an advisory opinion go to the institutions you chose and to the consulate.
Prepare to present your study and career plan in a few minutes, and read up on the programmes you applied for, the paths leading to your goal and life in France. In case of unjustified absence, no other interview is scheduled and the application is cancelled: let the office know in advance. Our guide to the Campus France interview covers the typical questions.
Replies, final choice and refusal
Replies arrive in your Études en France account. To accept, click "Je suis accepté", choose an acceptance following an application through the platform, then download your pre-registration approval. The choice is final: once made, there is no going back. You may wait for all replies, within the limit of 31 May 2027. If all replies are negative, our advice after a Campus France refusal helps you plan the next step.
The student visa from the Central African Republic
In the Central African Republic, the visa application goes through the office and is filed at the consulate, with no outsourced provider:
The office's list asks for two separate files (photocopies, then originals) and includes: the half-rate visa fee (33,000 FCFA, exact amount) and the Campus France receipt, the long-stay visa form, two 3.5 x 4.5 cm ID photos, a passport valid for more than one year and three months after departure, a birth certificate, the Central African nationality certificate, the enrolment certificate, written proof of the departure date, and proof of resources and accommodation. A minor files in the presence of one parent.
Watch the amounts: this list dates from 2024 and still quotes 404,000 FCFA (€615) per month. Since 1 August 2026, the minimum required of a foreign student is €877.50 per month. Prepare your file on that basis and check with the office. Our guide to proving your resources lists accepted evidence, and the one on the student visa application covers the whole file.
Scholarships, budget and preparation
The Campus France simulator (in French) places your profile in a few minutes; its thresholds are measured on admitted Beninese students and only give a rough idea for a Central African applicant. Our directory gathers the scholarships open to Central African students (in French), including the Eiffel scholarship (in French) for master's, and our overview of scholarships to study in France from sub-Saharan Africa compares the programmes. If you would rather be guided, Compatri offers Campus France coaching (in French): it is a paid service, and the price is given at the first conversation.
Arriving with the Central African community
You build the file on your own; arrival is easier with people around you. On Compatri, the Central African diaspora page brings together Central African communities city by city, and every 1 December the Central African Republic's National Day gathers compatriots in the diaspora. Joining the community of your future city is free, even before universities reply. Volunteer mentors from the diaspora also accept connection requests.
Compatri is not a service of Campus France or of the State, and does not replace the official source: only the information from Campus France Central African Republic and the consulate is binding.
