Campus France Guinea remains the mandatory route for any Guinean, or any foreigner living in Guinea, who wants to study in French higher education (Campus France is the French public agency for international students). In 2024-2025, the Conakry office supported more than 5,000 applicants, according to the French embassy. The campaign for the 2027 intake opened nationally on 1 October 2026, but Campus France Guinea has not yet posted its 2027 calendar: its website still shows the one for the 2025 intake. This guide sets out what is certain, flags what remains to be confirmed, and walks through the journey up to the visa at Capago.
Campus France Guinea: who does it concern?
The « Études en France » procedure is for Guinean students and foreigners living in Guinea. It leads to a certificate of pre-enrolment, a mandatory document for the student visa application. Campus France Guinea distinguishes three procedures:
- DAP (demande d'admission préalable, the prior admission request): first year of a licence (bachelor's), in any field, and architecture schools at every level;
- non-DAP: from the second year of a licence to master 2 (L2, L3, M1, M2), plus applications to an IUT (university institute of technology);
- pre-consular: after an admission obtained outside the platform, at a non-connected institution (BTS and preparatory classes via Parcoursup, France's national admissions platform, or private schools).
You can run several procedures in parallel, for example a licence 1 and an IUT, as long as you respect each one's dates. To place your case, read DAP, non-DAP or Parcoursup: which procedure.
Three profiles follow a lighter route. Final-year pupils at the Albert-Camus French lycée in Conakry and holders of a French baccalaureate less than four years old apply on Parcoursup, then open a « Je suis accepté » (I have been accepted) file from April: no fee, no interview. Scholarship holders of the French government, the AUF (the Francophone university agency) or Erasmus Mundus follow the normal procedure, but without fee or interview.
The Campus France office in Guinea

The Campus France Guinea procedure in six steps
As everywhere, Campus France's review of your file guarantees neither admission, which only the institution decides, nor the visa, which only the consulate grants. Our complete guide to the Campus France procedure goes through every screen of the platform.
Campus France fees in Guinea
The application fee is 1,500,000 GNF (Guinean francs), the amount shown by Campus France Guinea on its calendar page, last updated in September 2024: reconfirm it before paying. You pay at VISTA-GUI, into the account held in the name of Campus France Guinée, giving your full name and your GN number.
The office repeats a warning worth taking seriously: Campus France takes no cash on its premises and works with no outside partner. Anyone offering to collect your fee or to « speed up » your file for money is acting outside the procedure. The overall budget, tuition included, is in our article on Campus France fees.
The French test
The 2026-2027 DAP notice lists Guinea among the countries where French is the sole official language: Guinean nationals are therefore exempt from the TCF (the French language test) for a licence 1. For a master's or a school, the requirement depends on the institution, which often asks for a B2 level. Our comparison of the Campus France French test explains who must take which test.
The Campus France interview in Conakry
Once your file is validated, you book an appointment online from your account. If you have not booked ten days after slots open, Campus France will summon you. On the day, bring the originals of every scanned document and your passport. You present your study and career plans, your motivation and the reasons for your choices. Without originals or ID, the interview does not take place. To prepare, read the Campus France interview questions.
Answers, final choice and refusal
Institutions answer directly in your account, by 30 April 2027 at the latest for the DAP. Watch the platform and deal with messages quickly. If the answers are negative, several routes remain open, set out in Campus France refusal: what to do.
The student visa from Guinea, at Capago
Capago Guinea is the provider appointed by the French embassy in Guinea and Sierra Leone to receive files; the decision belongs to the consulate alone. The embassy page, updated in March 2026, confirms that visa appointments are booked through Capago.
Campus France Guinea estimates the costs at 468,000 GNF for the student visa and 318,000 GNF for Capago's service; these amounts are undated, so check them on France-Visas. Processing can take about six weeks: file at least two months before the start of the academic year. On money, the consulate expects at least 877.50 euros per month for applications filed since 1 August 2026; our guide to proving your resources lists the accepted proofs. Campus France Guinea also warns against agencies selling fake documents: fraud is detected and can lead to prosecution. All documents are in our guide to the student visa application.
Arriving and finding housing
The long-stay visa that serves as a residence permit (VLS-TS) must be validated online within three months of arrival. For housing, Crous residences (France's public student services) remain the cheapest, but places go early: our guide to Crous housing for international students explains how to apply from Conakry, and student budget in Paris, Lyon and Lille helps you cost a typical month.
To gauge the community awaiting you: Campus France's mobility sheet counted 3,860 Guinean students in France in 2022-2023, and 664 student visas issued in 2022.
Joining the Guinean diaspora before you leave
You build the file alone, but arrival is better prepared with others. On Compatri, the Guinean diaspora page gathers the communities of Guineans settled in student cities: you can join the one in your future city even before universities answer. The group « Étudiants africains » (African students) links, from campus to campus, those who talk about housing, grants and mutual help, and our selection of African student associations in France completes that network. Guinea's Independence Day, on 2 October, brings the diaspora together every year.
Compatri is not a service of Campus France or of the French State, and does not replace the official source: only the information from Campus France Guinea, the embassy and France-Visas binds you.
