Many people search for "Campus France Equatorial Guinea" and find guides written for other countries. The answer fits in three points. Equatorial Guinea is not one of the 75 countries and territories of the Études en France procedure: there is no account to create on that platform. There is, however, a Campus France office at the Institut français in Malabo, attached to the French embassy. And for first-year bachelor's, the demande d'admission préalable is lodged on paper in Malabo, from 15 October to 9 December 2026. This guide describes these routes, then the visa, the French test and scholarships.

First-year bachelor's: the DAP calendar in Malabo

DateStep
From 15 October to 9 December 2026File lodged at the Institut français, by appointment only; you receive a receipt
9 December 2026Last day for lodging
15 December 2026The embassy sends the files to the French institutions
By 30 April 2027Universities' answers and offers of admission
By 31 May 2027Your answer; no answer counts as a refusal

Your file is examined at the same time by the three universities you chose. If several accept you, you must choose. The embassy page presents this calendar as that of "the year 2026/2027", but its dates, from October 2026 to May 2027, are those of the campaign leading to the September 2027 intake: have the office confirm this at your appointment. The DAP form for candidates living abroad, the "dossier blanc", is downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Higher Education, to which the embassy refers. 9 December falls a week before the national date of 15 December: for you, the Malabo date is the one that counts. The comparison with other countries is in our Campus France calendar 2027-2028.

Second and third-year bachelor's, master's: direct application

Outside the Études en France procedure, you apply directly to each institution, following its calendar and on its platform, with dates specific to each programme. Our article Campus France or direct application explains what you can apply for directly, and how to check that a private school is recognised before paying. Nothing stops you from presenting your plan to the Malabo office before applying: that is exactly its role.

French test: the DAP rule

The notice for the demande d'admission préalable 2026-2027 lists Equatorial Guinea among countries where French is an official language but not the only one. The consequence is precise:

Your backgroundTest for first-year bachelor's
Secondary studies mostly in FrenchExempt from the TCF
Secondary studies mostly in another languageTCF for the DAP, unless you hold a French diploma of at least B2 level (DELF B2, DALF)

The exemption must be proven by the lodging deadline at the latest. For a master's, the institution sets its own requirement, most often B2. Ask the Institut français in Malabo where and when to take the TCF or the DELF. Exemptions are detailed in our article on the Campus France French test, and the choice of an English test for a programme taught in English in IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo.

The student visa from Equatorial Guinea

Once admitted, the long-stay study visa application follows the common route of the French diplomatic network:

1check on France-Visas which visa and documents you need, with the visa wizard;
2fill in the application online;
3lodge the file at the visa section of the French embassy in Malabo.

You can apply up to six months before departure, and the embassy warns that waiting times vary with the time of year: plan ahead. The resource threshold for a first application is €877.50 a month, according to Service-public.fr. Our guide to proving your resources lists the accepted proofs, and the one on the student visa application covers the whole file.

Scholarships and other destinations

All scholarships open to Equatoguineans are gathered on our page scholarships for Equatoguineans (in French), with email alerts before each deadline. The French government scholarships through the embassies (in French) follow rules specific to each country: ask the Malabo office. The Eiffel scholarship (in French) goes through French institutions, which nominate their candidates. If France is not your only option, our guides to scholarships to study in Belgium and to fully funded scholarships for African students widen the choice.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Creating an Études en France account while claiming to live in another country: the procedure follows your real country of residence.
  • Missing 9 December by relying on the national date of 15 December.
  • Paying an intermediary who promises an admission or a visa: the Campus France office is free for information, and only the consulate decides on the visa.
  • Sending an incomplete file: the DAP notice warns that a late or incomplete file, or one missing documents, is not examined.

Talking to those who already studied in France

The embassy also runs France Alumni Equatorial Guinea, the network of former students of French higher education, launched in 2017. Membership is free and open to Equatoguineans who followed a university programme in France, to graduates living in the country and to people who took a non-degree course. Its platform publishes job, internship and scholarship offers. For a future student, it is above all an address book: those who went through the same steps before you know which programmes answer and how long each step takes. Prepare your questions before contacting them: programme followed, city, housing, real budget for the first month.

Arriving with the Equatoguinean community

On Compatri, the Equatoguinean diaspora page brings communities together city by city, in France and in Belgium, and every 12 October Equatorial Guinea's independence day gathers compatriots in the diaspora. The volunteer mentors from the diaspora also answer about the studies they followed. Before applying, the Campus France simulator (in French) gives an order of magnitude of your chances; its thresholds were measured on Beninese candidates.

Compatri is not a service of Campus France or of the State, and does not replace the official source: only the information from the Campus France office in Malabo, the embassy and France-Visas is binding.
