The bac in Benin is organised by the Office du Baccalauréat, which publishes the list of papers for each track with their coefficients and durations. That list has 14 tracks: five general tracks (A1, A2, B, C, D), eight technical tracks (E, F1, F2, F3, F4, G1, G2, G3) and the water and sanitation programme. In June 2026, 77,101 candidates sat the exam in 140 centres, according to the government. Here are the tracks, the subjects and coefficients, registration, what is known about the 2027 session calendar, and what comes after the bac.

Who organises the bac in Benin

The Office du Baccalauréat is a public body created in 1970, with management autonomy, under the ministry in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It handles the technical and material organisation of the exam. After results are announced, it also issues transcripts, certificates, diplomas, certificates of authenticity and certificates of non-registration.

Benin's bac has a single session and a replacement session. Written papers form the first group; the oral forms the second.

Subjects and coefficients of the general bac

In the five general tracks, written papers add up to 21 coefficients. Physical education (EPS) adds 1, making 22 (440 points), and the oral adds 4, for 26 coefficients and 520 points in total.

For languages, candidates choose between English, Spanish and German, and English must be one of their foreign languages. Optional papers exist: drawing, national languages, music, home economics, sewing and Latin.

Practical papers in the F tracks are long: up to 8 to 12 hours of practical work in F1. The oral in technical tracks covers philosophy and English, among others.

The Office's list carries no session date. Always check with your school that it has not changed for 2027.

Registering for the bac

Registration takes two steps:

1pre-registration: your school enters your details on the Office's platform (bac.bj); an independent candidate uses inscription.bac.bj;
2validation: the Office checks the documents in the file, then validates the registration.

Read and sign the list you are shown: surname, first names, date and place of birth must exactly match your documents, otherwise your diploma will carry the error. Your phone number and that of a parent or guardian are mandatory.

Calendar: what we know about the 2027 session

As of 2 November 2026, the 2027 session calendar is not published. In Benin, exam dates are set every year by an interministerial order on the national exam calendar. Here is what previous sessions show:

SessionWritten papersReplacement session
2022Monday 20 to Thursday 23 JuneMonday 18 to Thursday 21 July
2026Started on Monday 15 JuneNot included here (dates not confirmed by an official source)

The usual period is therefore the second half of June for written papers, with EPS and practical papers before. Plan your revision to be ready by mid-June: our method for revising for the bac with past papers offers a schedule for the last months.

Results and documents

Results are announced by the Office du Baccalauréat, which draws up the list of candidates finally admitted. Check them only through the Office's official channels: every session, fake results circulate on social media. The Office also offers online services (services.bac.bj) for transcripts, certificates and authentication.

Revise with papers and with your class

The Office does not publish an online archive of papers. On Compatri, the exam paper archive (in French) is starting to gather Beninese papers uploaded by pupils, reviewed and published no earlier than the day after the exam. It is still sparse: if you have your term test or mock papers, upload them. And on the Study page, join your class's group in your city ("Terminale D, Cotonou", "Terminale C, Parakou") to ask questions and mark work together.

After the bac: study in Benin or leave

Diploma in hand, two paths: carry on in Benin or go abroad to study. Our article stay or leave after the bac weighs both.

If you are aiming for France, the Campus France procedure starts in the final year, before bac results. Campus France Benin states that school reports after 2019 must be verifiable on Educmaster. Everything is in our Campus France Benin guide and the Campus France Benin 2027 calendar. The Campus France simulator (in French), free and anonymous, places your file against admitted applicants.

To fund your studies, the directory lists scholarships open to Beninese students (in French), checked on official websites, with alerts before each deadline. And once you leave, the Beninese diaspora is waiting in your future city.
