Campus France Mauritius has opened applications for the September 2027 intake. Two deadlines split the candidates: 15 December 2026 for first-year bachelor's (and the master's at an architecture school), 15 February 2027 for second and third-year bachelor's, BUT and master's. The fee is 5,900 rupees, a French test is required from anyone without a DELF B2, and the visa is filed at the French consulate in Port-Louis. About 350 Mauritians start higher education in France every year. This guide follows their own route; for the general logic of the Études en France platform, see our complete guide to Campus France.

Campus France Mauritius: which procedure for your project?

Mauritius falls under the "Études en France" procedure: for a study stay of more than three months, everything goes through the platform and the Rose-Hill office.

The French test: the Mauritian specificity

Unlike candidates from French-speaking West Africa, a Mauritian candidate must prove their level of French.

  • Exemption: you hold the DELF B2 or the DALF C1.
  • Otherwise, for first-year bachelor's: the TCF Tout Public, with a compulsory written test and no oral test. It costs 6,750 rupees and is valid for two years. The next computer session is on 18 November 2026. You register at the commercial desk of the Institut français de Maurice in Rose-Hill.
  • For second year to master's: each programme sets its level, B2 or C1. Without a test result, contact the Institut français commercial desk for TCF dates and prices.

Register early: a test taken after the deadline does not save a closed file. Accepted tests are covered in our article on the Campus France French test.

The procedure in 5 steps

1Create your file online on Études en France. Registration is free and non-binding; you receive an ID in the form MU26-XXXXX.
2Register for the language test, if you have neither DELF B2 nor DALF C1.
3Have the file checked and pay: you book an appointment, bring the complete file and pay the fee. Check everything before final validation, because changes are hard afterwards.
4Attend the academic interview, the last step before the file goes to institutions.
5Receive the answers, then apply for the visa.

From second year onwards, choose up to 7 programmes and check their prerequisites and required French level.

Documents to prepare

  • language certificates (DELF, DALF or TCF);
  • diplomas and transcripts, including the transcripts completed by teachers for first year;
  • from second year onwards: HSC, transcript, bachelor's diploma or DALF C1 certificate, internship or employment certificates;
  • a translation of the transcript or bachelor's diploma, which the office suggests having done at the Supreme Court in Port-Louis.

If you obtained the HSC in 2025 or earlier, you need a translation certified by the Supreme Court of Port-Louis, then an apostille from the Prime Minister's Office.

15 December 2026Deadline for first-year bachelor's and the architecture master's

31 May 2027Deadline for the final choice

Campus France fees in Mauritius

The application fee is 5,900 rupees, payable in cash or by bank transfer; the non-DAP page also mentions card and Juice. Bank details are in the office's registration guide. Write your MU26-XXXXX ID in the payment reference, otherwise it cannot be matched to your file. The fee is non-refundable.

The full first-year budget, tuition and CVEC included, is detailed in our article on Campus France fees.

The academic interview

The interview is held with a Campus France adviser once the file is validated. It lasts about 20 to 30 minutes for first year, around twenty minutes for other levels. The adviser asks about your study plan, your career plan and why you chose France. It is the last step before the file goes to institutions: without it, no university reads your application. Our guide to the Campus France interview lists typical questions.

Answers and final choice

Universities and architecture schools answer by 30 April 2027 at the latest. You then have until 31 May 2027 to confirm your final choice; without confirmation, the admission is lost. If every answer is negative, our tips after a Campus France rejection help you plan what comes next.

The student visa from Mauritius

In Mauritius there is no outside provider: the file is filed at the consulate's visa service, 5 rue Auguste Rouget, Port-Louis, by appointment only.

1Create your France-Visas account and print the completed form.
2Have your pre-consular file validated by Campus France Mauritius, which sends you the appointment link.
3Gather the documents on the list: passport, pre-registration certificate, latest diploma, proof of accommodation, proof of funds.
4Pay the €50 processing fee, in cash and in rupees, at the consulate, and file the application.

File it at least two weeks before leaving for France, four to six weeks before for La Réunion. You must enter France within three months of the start of the visa's validity, then validate your VLS-TS online.

Funds: since 1 August 2026, you must show €877.50 per month (Campus France Mauritius rounds it to €878), up from €615. The bank certificate must show this amount paid monthly into your account in France or La Réunion. Our guide to proving your funds lists accepted evidence, and the one on the student visa application covers the whole file.

Scholarships and housing

Campus France Mauritius relays calls from the French government, including a scholarship to study in France or La Réunion. Our page on French embassy scholarships (in French) explains how they work, and the page of scholarships open to Mauritians (in French) gathers other programmes, with alerts before each deadline. For housing, our article on CROUS housing for international students explains how to request a room in a residence.

Arriving with the Mauritian community

Before filing, the Campus France simulator (in French) places a file against admitted candidates for free; its thresholds come from Beninese admits and only give a rough idea for Mauritius. On Compatri, the Mauritian diaspora page gathers communities city by city, and every 12 March Mauritius Independence Day brings compatriots together in the diaspora. Joining the community of your future city is free, even before universities answer.

Compatri is not a Campus France or government service: only information from Campus France Mauritius and the consulate is binding.
