Djibouti is one of the countries in the Campus France "Études en France" procedure, and the Djibouti office, based at the Institut français, receives candidates. For first-year bachelor's, the prior admission request (DAP) closes on 15 December 2026, the national date for the 2027 intake. As of 2 November 2026, however, Campus France Djibouti has not published its 2027 calendar: its calendar page still shows the 2025-2026 campaign. This guide therefore separates what is published from what remains to be confirmed, and tells you how to move forward without losing time. For the general logic of the platform, see our complete guide to Campus France.

The Études en France procedure in 8 steps

Campus France Djibouti sets out the following route:

1Define your project: degree, field, institution, housing.
2Create your account on the Études en France platform, enter your details and build a basket of up to 7 programmes.
3Submit the file and pay the fee.
4Correction and validation: an office agent reviews the file. Three correction visits at most are allowed.
5Attend the academic interview.
6Final choice and acceptance, before 31 May for all programmes.
7Build the visa file.
8Prepare departure, with modules from April, and arrive about two weeks before classes.

Before filling your basket, check that you meet each programme's prerequisites, level and admission conditions: universities decide, not Campus France. If the institution you want is not connected to the platform, our comparison Campus France or direct application explains the route to follow.

For second year to master's, the office has not published a 2027 date. During the 2025-2026 campaign, it set 15 December for first year and 15 January for other programmes. Do not take that January date for granted: ask djibouti@campusfrance.org to confirm and aim for mid-December at every level. Our Campus France calendar 2027-2028 compares countries.

Campus France fees in Djibouti

The file management fee is 28,000 FDJ, to be paid before the file is reviewed. Three payment methods are listed:

  • at the Institut français de Djibouti cash desk;
  • into the Institut français account at BCIMR;
  • by Visa or Mastercard.

The fee is non-refundable and guarantees neither pre-registration nor a visa. The amount appears on a page that refers to the 2025-2026 campaign: confirm it before paying. The full departure budget is detailed in our article on Campus France fees.

The academic interview

The interview lasts about thirty minutes with a Campus France adviser. Bring your printed notice, your ID and your original paper file. The adviser asks you to present your background and plan in a few minutes, then covers:

  • the institutions and programmes you chose, their admission conditions, curricula and career outcomes;
  • the coherence of your plan, possible difficulties and what happens if it does not work out;
  • if the programme requires a foreign language, a few sentences in that language.

The file then goes to the institutions you chose. Our guide to the Campus France interview lists typical questions, and our article on the Campus France French test explains who must take one.

The student visa from Djibouti

Once admitted, you obtain the institution's pre-registration certificate, then go to the Campus France office, which signs it and gives you the document list and instructions for the consular appointment. The visa application is filed with the French consular authorities in Djibouti; the website of the French embassy in Djibouti points to its consular section and to France-Visas.

Note: the Campus France Djibouti visa page still mentions a former funds threshold of €615 and outdated formalities. The amount required today is €877.50 per month, according to service-public.fr. Our guide to proving your funds lists accepted evidence, and the one on the student visa application the whole file.

What to do right now

1Write to the office (djibouti@campusfrance.org) to get the 2027 calendar and confirm the fee.
2Create your Études en France account without waiting: first year closes on 15 December 2026.
3Prepare the documents: transcripts, diplomas, ID, CV, motivation letters.
4Check your funding: our page on French embassy scholarships (in French) and the page of scholarships open to Djiboutians (in French) gather programmes, with alerts before each deadline.
5Pay no intermediary promising admission or a visa: Campus France is the official contact, and only the consulate decides on the visa.

If every answer is negative, our tips after a Campus France rejection help you plan what comes next.

Arriving with the Djiboutian community

The Campus France simulator (in French) places a file for free; its thresholds come from Beninese admits and only give a rough idea for Djibouti. On Compatri, the Djiboutian diaspora page gathers communities city by city, and every 27 June Djibouti Independence Day brings compatriots together in the diaspora. Joining the community of your future city is free.

Compatri is not a Campus France or government service: only information from Campus France Djibouti and the consular authorities is binding.
