China diaspora around the world

According to the United Nations, 8,760,000 people from China live abroad.

However, the figure counts migrants, not their children born abroad. The real diaspora is therefore larger.

2,490,000 people from China live in the United States, 810,000 Japan, and 772,000 Canada.

Together, these three countries therefore account for about 46% of the diaspora.

Each country has its own page, with the cities, communities and meetups there.

By continent, the diaspora counts 3,400,000 people in the Americas, 3,220,000 Asia, and 1,250,000 Europe.

For each continent, a page also gathers the countries and cities where it lives.

Other countries in Asia also have their diaspora on Compatri: India, Syria, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Philippines. Each page gathers its countries of residence, its cities and its national day.

Compatri brings diasporas together where they live. First, you choose the community of your city. Then you discover what its members organise: meals, parties, afterworks or mutual aid. Finally, you message compatriots who share your interests.

You can also host your own meetup: a meal, an outing or a party. It then appears to members of your city, and you follow sign-ups from your account.

Your exact location never appears: other members only see an approximate area. In addition, joining a community and attending events costs nothing.

Every October 1, the national day brings the China diaspora together. Wherever the diaspora lives, communities also organise concerts, meals and gatherings.
