For a student living in Morocco, the French student visa starts with a message: the one from Campus France Morocco that, once your pre-consular file is finalised, authorises you to book an appointment at TLScontact. Without it, the centre refuses your file. This guide follows the journey in order: the « Je suis accepté » (I have been accepted) procedure, the France-Visas form (the official French visa website), the seven TLScontact centres in Morocco, the documents, the 877.50 euros a month in funds, the fees, the timelines, refusals, and then validating the visa on arrival. For the application stage before this, see our Campus France Morocco guide; for the general version, valid in every country, read applying for a French student visa.
From the Campus France message to the visa: the steps
| Step | Where | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| 1. « Je suis accepté » file | Études en France | Finalised within 15 to 20 days |
| 2. Authorisation message | Études en France inbox | Right to book an appointment |
| 3. Visa form | France-Visas | Receipt and list of documents |
| 4. Appointment and prepayment | TLScontact website | Confirmation letter |
| 5. Filing and biometrics | TLScontact centre | File sent to the consulate |
| 6. Decision and collection | Consulate, then TLScontact | Passport with the visa |
Step 1 happens on Études en France (Campus France's online platform) after your final choice. You state the chosen programme, submit, pay the fee if not already paid for the period and attend the pre-consular interview, unless exempt. Campus France Morocco sets three markers: no more than four months before arriving in France, preferably at least a month before departure, and only once your consular file is ready, passport included. Once the file is finalised, download the acceptance certificate, also called « accord préalable d'inscription », from the « Projets d'études » section. If you were admitted outside the platform (BTS, preparatory class, school with an entrance exam), this procedure must be completed at least a month before departure.
Steps 3 and 4 follow one another: the visa application is first filled in on France-Visas, which then redirects you to TLScontact for the appointment and prepayment. You book the appointment yourself, not Campus France.
TLScontact in Morocco: the seven filing centres
TLScontact receives files and takes fingerprints for the consulate; it decides nothing. France-Visas lists seven centres in Morocco:
| TLScontact centre | Note |
|---|---|
| Agadir | Galeries Talborjt, boulevard Mohamed Cheikh Saadi |
| Casablanca | Standard service and paid « prime » service |
| Fès | Filing in the morning, Monday to Friday |
| Marrakech | 13, rue Ibn El Cadi, Guéliz |
| Oujda | Boulevard Hassan II, route Sidi Yahya |
| Rabat | Filing Monday to Friday |
| Tangier | Filing in the morning, Monday to Friday |
Opening hours change during Ramadan: check them on France-Visas before you travel. Two rules matter more than the address. You must file in the consular district of your place of residence, not in the city where you study. And all appointments are booked on the TLScontact website: Campus France Morocco warns against intermediaries reselling slots, a practice it calls fraudulent.
On filing day, bring the printed confirmation letter, the passport whose number appears on that letter, your means of payment and the documents sorted in the order of the list. Phones and cameras are banned inside the centre. If a document is missing, you can withdraw and rebook without paying service fees, or file anyway and sign the list of missing items.
Documents for the French student visa in Morocco
The list published by Campus France Morocco in July 2026 includes:
Foreign nationals living in Morocco add proof of their legal residence. And if you are a minor on the filing date, you must apply for a « mineur scolarisé » (school-age minor) visa: the filing date is what counts.
Funds: 877.50 euros a month and a guarantor
Since 1 August 2026, the minimum to prove for a student visa is 877.50 euros per month. Careful: Campus France Morocco's document list still shows the old 615-euro threshold and the old one-off transfer of 7,380 euros, with a note pointing to the new amount. Calculate on 877.50 euros, that is 10,530 euros for twelve months, and check the exact amount required on France-Visas.
Accepted proof, according to Campus France Morocco: a grant certificate for scholarship holders; for others, a parental support statement, the last three payslips, bank statements, an employment certificate, a standing and irrevocable transfer order or a one-off transfer, and, if the guarantor lives in France, their statement, latest tax notice, three payslips and ID. A point specific to Morocco: a guarantor remains compulsory even with a blocked sum. Ideally they live in France or Morocco; if they live elsewhere, explain why in a letter. Good practice for this part is in proving your resources for a student visa.
Fees and timelines for the student visa from Morocco
| Item | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Long-stay visa, Études en France country | 50 euros, paid in dirhams | France-Visas |
| TLScontact service fee | Shown at prepayment | TLScontact |
| TLScontact « prime » service | Optional, paid | France-Visas |
| Campus France fee (already paid) | 1,900 dirhams | Campus France Morocco |
| Validating the VLS-TS in France | 100 euros | service-public.fr |
France-Visas specifies that the dirham amount printed on the receipt may differ from what you pay: only the euro value counts. The amount of the TLScontact service fee does not appear on the official pages we were able to consult: it is shown during online prepayment.
On timelines, France-Visas states for Morocco an appointment wait of several weeks, varying by centre, and does not accept applications more than six months before departure. Summer is the busiest period: Campus France Morocco advises booking as soon as you are authorised, then checking the schedule regularly, as slots open gradually. You then follow the application in your France-Visas account, « Mes demandes » section, and collect your passport at TLScontact, in person or through someone holding your written authorisation. The full campaign timeline is in our Campus France Morocco 2027 calendar.
Visa refusal: what blocks and how to react
The consulate accesses your academic file through Études en France and remains the sole judge. The points it examines are known: sufficient and credible funds, consistency between your background and the chosen programme, accommodation, authenticity of documents. A file calculated on the old 615-euro threshold starts with an obvious handicap.
If refused, Campus France Morocco points out that the decision must be reasoned for a student. You can file an informal appeal with the consul, then refer the matter to the Commission de recours contre les décisions de refus de visa (the visa refusal appeals board) within 30 days, a compulsory step before any appeal to the administrative court of Nantes. The detail, and what to fix before reapplying, is in what to do after a student visa refusal. Compatri does not give legal advice.
On arrival: validating the VLS-TS
The visa issued is normally a VLS-TS marked « étudiant » (long-stay visa serving as a residence permit). You must validate it online on the ANEF website (France's digital portal for foreign nationals) within three months of arriving, with your arrival date, your address in France and a means of paying the tax. During those three months you may travel; after that, without validation, you would need a new visa to return to France. This permit also lets you work 964 hours a year. The step-by-step process is in validating your VLS-TS.
Preparing your departure with those who went through TLScontact
The official lists do not say how many days it took this summer to get a slot in Casablanca or Fès, or which document was requested at the counter. The Moroccan students settled in your future city know. On Compatri, you can join their community even before filing your visa, as explained in joining your community before you leave, and find in the group « Étudiants africains » (African students) those leaving the same year. The same contacts then help you find student housing from abroad.
Compatri is not a service of Campus France, the consulate or the State, and does not replace the official source; nor is Compatri a visa agency.

Frequently asked questions
Which provider handles the French student visa in Morocco?
TLScontact, the French consulate's service provider, receives files and takes fingerprints in seven centres: Agadir, Casablanca, Fès, Marrakech, Oujda, Rabat and Tangier. It does not decide: only the consulate issues the visa. Students must first complete the France-Visas form and wait for Campus France Morocco's authorisation before booking.
How much does the French student visa cost from Morocco?
France-Visas states 50 euros for the long-stay visa in Études en France countries, paid in dirhams; only the euro value on the receipt counts. Add the TLScontact service fee, shown at prepayment, and, once in France, the 100-euro VLS-TS validation tax. The 1,900 dirhams for Campus France are paid earlier.
How much must you prove for a French student visa in Morocco in 2026?
At least 877.50 euros per month for applications filed since 1 August 2026, that is 10,530 euros over twelve months. Some Campus France Morocco documents still show the old 615-euro threshold: do not rely on it. Campus France Morocco also specifies that a guarantor remains compulsory even with a blocked sum.
Can you book a TLScontact appointment before the Campus France procedure ends?
No. You must wait for the « Je suis accepté » pre-consular file to be finalised, which takes 15 to 20 days according to Campus France Morocco, then for the authorisation message. Without a screenshot of that message, TLScontact refuses the file. Never buy an appointment from an intermediary: all are booked on the TLScontact website.
How long does it take to get a French student visa in Morocco?
No timeline is guaranteed. Allow 15 to 20 days for pre-consular finalisation at Campus France Morocco, then a TLScontact appointment wait of several weeks according to France-Visas, longer in summer, before the consulate processes the file. Start the pre-consular procedure as soon as your final choice is made, within the limit of four months before arrival.
