In Morocco, the French-language certificate decides whether your file is even admissible: without a TCF, DELF B2 or DALF, or at least proof of registration, Campus France Morocco will not process your application. The TCF Campus France Morocco, meaning the TCF tout public (general-audience French test) taken at the Institut français du Maroc, remains the most common choice because it gives a quick result. This article answers the practical questions: which certificate, where, how many dirhams, which sessions fall before the 15 November 2026 closing date, what score to aim for and who is exempt. For the whole procedure, from account to visa, see our Campus France Morocco guide.

Which certificate for Campus France Morocco

Campus France Morocco accepts three certificates for every application: the TCF TP (tout public), the DELF B2 and the DALF C1 or C2 (French state diplomas in French as a foreign language). The campaign's official leaflet and the certificates page list nothing else. An older page on the same site still mentions the TEF (the France version, never the TEF Canada): if you hold a TEF, ask the office for confirmation before you submit.

The two families do not measure the same thing.

One Moroccan specificity deserves attention: the TCF TP has no speaking paper in Morocco, as Campus France Morocco points out. You will therefore first meet spoken French on the day of the Campus France interview. The DELF and DALF do assess it.

Where to take the TCF in Morocco

The Institut français du Maroc runs the TCF TP, the DELF and the DALF. You can register and pay online on the Institut's website, or at the reception desk of its branches:

RegionWhere to register
Rabat-Casablanca axisRabat, Casablanca, Kenitra, El Jadida
North and EastTangier, Tetouan, Oujda
CentreFez, Meknes
SouthMarrakech, Agadir, Essaouira
Alliances françaisesSafi, Ouarzazate

The TCF comes in two formats of equal value: on paper, with fixed sessions, and on computer (TCF SO), whose dates you ask for at your city's branch. The difference lies in how fast results arrive, explained below. To collect your TCF certificate or DELF diploma, go to the Institut or Alliance where you registered.

TCF price for Campus France in Morocco

Campus France Morocco publishes the following price list, repeated in its September 2026 leaflet.

CertificateFull priceReduced price
TCF TP1,900 MADNone listed
DELF B21,200 MAD960 MAD
DALF C1 or C21,700 MAD1,360 MAD
Online placement test50 MAD—

The reduced rate applies to students enrolled in French classes at the Instituts français du Maroc or the Alliance française in Safi, and to students of the Institut's partner institutions. The DELF B2 therefore costs less than the TCF, and you never need to retake it: a strong argument if you are preparing two campaigns in a row.

These amounts come on top of the 1,900 MAD Campus France application fee: one never replaces the other. The full departure budget is in our article on Campus France fees.

Sessions before 15 November 2026

The certificate calendar published by Campus France Morocco for the 2026-2027 campaign reads as follows.

DELF/DALF13 December 202619 and 20 December 202622 January 2027

The rule that unlocks everything: while you wait for your results, the exam notice or the payment receipt is accepted at submission, provided your session appears in this calendar. You do not need to wait for a score to submit before 11:59 pm on 15 November 2026. Every other deadline of the campaign is in our Campus France Morocco 2027 calendar.

The DELF Junior B2 is meant for pupils up to the second year of the baccalauréat; it has the same value as the general DELF, and the diploma does not say "Junior".

What TCF score to aim for

Campus France Morocco sets two markers: a TCF of at least 400 points, a DELF B2 or a DALF is recommended; a TCF below 350 points is considered insufficient to study in good conditions. The official TCF scale explains these figures.

TCF scoreLevel
300 to 399 pointsB1, effective but limited command
400 to 499 pointsB2, general and spontaneous command
500 to 599 pointsC1, good command
600 to 699 pointsC2, excellent command

The 400-point threshold is therefore the start of B2, and 350 the middle of B1. Some programmes require C1 or C2: check the prerequisites of every programme on your list. For perspective, the Campus France Morocco leaflet gives the TCF levels reached in Morocco in 2025: 29.9% B1, 39.1% B2, 21% C1 and 6.5% C2. For the DELF B2, the pass rate stood at 85%.

Validity, result times and a second attempt

1Validity: the TCF must be less than two years old at submission. Campus France Morocco still advises a recent TCF: a test that expires during the campaign may be refused by the French institution.
2Results: about 15 days for a computer-based TCF, four weeks for a paper TCF. You check them online on the Institut's website.
3Second attempt: you must leave 20 days between two TCFs. A disappointing score in October gets retaken in November, not the following week.
4For the visa: the same certificate goes into the "Je suis accepté" (I have been accepted) file after admission. A DELF, valid for life, avoids any date surprise.

If you are still torn between tests, our comparison of the French test for Campus France explains what each is for.

Who is exempt from the certificate

Campus France Morocco publishes a precise list. The most common cases:

ProfileFrench certificate
Moroccan baccalauréat, Moroccan bachelor's or master'sRequired
Pupil from an international section, French optionRequired
French programme delivered in MoroccoRequired
Holder of a French, Belgian or European baccalauréatExempt
Student or graduate of the Africa Sup network (Centrale Casablanca, Essec Afrique, TBS Casablanca, etc.)Exempt
Holder of a French higher-education degree obtained in FranceExempt
French government, Eiffel, AUF or Erasmus Mundus scholarExempt
Programme taught 100% in English, except first-year bachelor'sExempt, unless the institution requires it

Even when Campus France exempts you, the institution may ask for a certificate: read its prerequisites. And for a programme in English, a TOEIC, TOEFL or IELTS may be required instead.

Your plan from today

1This week: take the 50 MAD online placement test to see where you stand.
2Before 16 October: register for the 14 November paper TCF, or for a computer-based TCF at your branch; before 18 October for the 24-25 October DELF.
3As soon as you register: upload the exam notice or receipt to your Études en France file, then submit, well before 15 November.
4When the result arrives: replace the notice with the certificate. If the score looks tight, keep the 20-day margin to retake the test.

Revising with those who took it last year

The TCF is easier to prepare in a group, especially the writing paper. On Compatri, the Moroccan diaspora page gathers Moroccan communities city by city; students who took the TCF in Rabat or Casablanca last year now live in the city where you plan to study. Joining their community is free, even before you leave. The group "Étudiants africains" (African students) also connects students from several countries around scholarships and mutual help between campuses.

Compatri runs no courses and no tests, is not a service of Campus France or of the State, and does not replace the official source: for registration and results, only the Institut français du Maroc and Campus France Morocco are authoritative.
