According to the United Nations, 504,000 people from Rwanda live in Africa.
In total, 532,000 people from Rwanda live abroad, and about 95% of them live in Africa.
However, the figure counts migrants, not their children born here. The real community is therefore larger.
No community for people from Rwanda exists in Africa on Compatri yet. However, one first member is enough to open one in their city.
As soon as a community starts, its meetups show up on the events page, with the date, the venue and the number of attendees.
There, the largest diasporas also come from Palestine, Syria, France, Iraq, and the United Kingdom, according to the UN. Each one has its own page on Compatri, with its cities and meetups.
Compatri brings diasporas together where they live. First, you choose the community of your city. Then you discover what its members organise: meals, parties, afterworks or mutual aid. Finally, you message compatriots who share your interests.
You can also host your own meetup: a meal, an outing or a party. It then appears to members of your city, and you follow sign-ups from your account.
Your exact location never appears: other members only see an approximate area. In addition, joining a community and attending events costs nothing.
Every July 1, the national day brings the Rwanda diaspora together. Locally too, communities organise concerts, meals and gatherings.
Elsewhere, the Rwanda diaspora also lives in Belgium, Canada, and China. Each country has its own page, with its cities and meetups.
According to the UN, about 504,000 people from Rwanda live in Africa. Their children born here do not count in this figure.
Communities start where members sign up. If your city is still missing, suggest it: a community often begins with a handful of neighbours.
Join the community of your city on Compatri, then attend the meetups its members organise. You can also host your own event.
According to the UN, the largest ones come from Palestine, Syria, France, Iraq, and the United Kingdom.
Rwanda Independence Day falls on July 1. In Africa too, the diaspora celebrates it every year.
No. Joining your community, discovering nearby members and attending events stays free. The Starter and Advanced plans only add features to go further.
