🇲🇱 Mali
People from Mali in Burkina Faso meet here, city by city. Each community is a neighbourhood, not a crowd, so if yours is missing, start it.
According to the United Nations, 37,900 people from Mali live in Burkina Faso.
Therefore Burkina Faso ranks number 8 among the destinations of the Mali diaspora.
In total, 1,290,000 people from Mali live abroad, and about 3% of them live in Burkina Faso.
However, the figure counts migrants, not their children born here. The real community is therefore larger.
No community for people from Mali exists in Burkina Faso on Compatri yet. However, one first member is enough to open one in their city.
As soon as a community starts, its meetups show up on the events page, with the date, the venue and the number of attendees.
Compatri follows cities such as Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, and each one can host its community.
There, the largest diasporas also come from Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Niger, and Nigeria, according to the UN. Each one has its own page on Compatri, with its cities and meetups.
Compatri brings diasporas together where they live. First, you choose the community of your city. Then you discover what its members organise: meals, parties, afterworks or mutual aid. Finally, you message compatriots who share your interests.
You can also host your own meetup: a meal, an outing or a party. It then appears to members of your city, and you follow sign-ups from your account.
Your exact location never appears: other members only see an approximate area. In addition, joining a community and attending events costs nothing.
Every September 22, the national day brings the Mali diaspora together. Locally too, communities organise concerts, meals and gatherings.
According to the UN, about 37,900 people from Mali live in Burkina Faso. Their children born here do not count in this figure.
Communities start where members sign up. If your city is still missing, suggest it: a community often begins with a handful of neighbours.
Join the community of your city on Compatri, then attend the meetups its members organise. You can also host your own event.
According to the UN, the largest ones come from Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Niger, and Nigeria.
Mali Independence Day falls on September 22. In Burkina Faso too, the diaspora celebrates it every year.
No. Joining your community, discovering nearby members and attending events stays free. The Starter and Advanced plans only add features to go further.
Elsewhere, the Mali diaspora also lives in Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Niger. Each country has its own page, with its cities and meetups.
