🇱🇷 Liberia
People from Liberia in Sierra Leone meet here, city by city. Each community is a neighbourhood, not a crowd, so if yours is missing, start it.
According to the United Nations, 8,460 people from Liberia live in Sierra Leone.
Therefore Sierra Leone ranks number 5 among the destinations of the Liberia diaspora.
In total, 143,000 people from Liberia live abroad, and about 6% of them live in Sierra Leone.
However, the figure counts migrants, not their children born here. The real community is therefore larger.
No community for people from Liberia exists in Sierra Leone on Compatri yet. However, one first member is enough to open one in their city.
As soon as a community starts, its meetups show up on the events page, with the date, the venue and the number of attendees.
Compatri follows cities such as Freetown, and each one can host its community.
Compatri brings diasporas together where they live. First, you choose the community of your city. Then you discover what its members organise: meals, parties, afterworks or mutual aid. Finally, you message compatriots who share your interests.
You can also host your own meetup: a meal, an outing or a party. It then appears to members of your city, and you follow sign-ups from your account.
Your exact location never appears: other members only see an approximate area. In addition, joining a community and attending events costs nothing.
Every July 26, the national day brings the Liberia diaspora together. Locally too, communities organise concerts, meals and gatherings.
According to the UN, about 8,460 people from Liberia live in Sierra Leone. Their children born here do not count in this figure.
Communities start where members sign up. If your city is still missing, suggest it: a community often begins with a handful of neighbours.
Join the community of your city on Compatri, then attend the meetups its members organise. You can also host your own event.
Liberia Independence Day falls on July 26. In Sierra Leone too, the diaspora celebrates it every year.
No. Joining your community, discovering nearby members and attending events stays free. The Starter and Advanced plans only add features to go further.
Elsewhere, the Liberia diaspora also lives in Ghana, Israel, and Nigeria. Each country has its own page, with its cities and meetups.
