🇧🇮 Burundi
People from Burundi in Belgium meet here, city by city. Each community is a neighbourhood, not a crowd, so if yours is missing, start it.
According to the United Nations, 13,900 people from Burundi live in Belgium.
Therefore Belgium ranks number 7 among the destinations of the Burundi diaspora.
In total, 572,000 people from Burundi live abroad, and about 2% of them live in Belgium.
However, the figure counts migrants, not their children born here. The real community is therefore larger.
On Compatri, people from Burundi already meet in Bruxelles.
Each community brings together members of the same city, so you meet neighbours rather than a crowd.
There, the largest diasporas also come from Morocco, France, the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy, according to the UN. Each one has its own page on Compatri, with its cities and meetups.
Compatri brings diasporas together where they live. First, you choose the community of your city. Then you discover what its members organise: meals, parties, afterworks or mutual aid. Finally, you message compatriots who share your interests.
You can also host your own meetup: a meal, an outing or a party. It then appears to members of your city, and you follow sign-ups from your account.
Your exact location never appears: other members only see an approximate area. In addition, joining a community and attending events costs nothing.
Every July 1, the national day brings the Burundi diaspora together. Locally too, communities organise concerts, meals and gatherings.
According to the UN, about 13,900 people from Burundi live in Belgium. Their children born here do not count in this figure.
On Compatri, you will find them in Bruxelles, for example. Each city has its own community, members and meetups.
Join the community of your city on Compatri, then attend the meetups its members organise. You can also host your own event.

Burundi Independence Day falls on July 1. In Belgium too, the diaspora celebrates it every year.
No. Joining your community, discovering nearby members and attending events stays free. The Starter and Advanced plans only add features to go further.
Elsewhere, the Burundi diaspora also lives in Tanzania, Rwanda, and the DR Congo. Each country has its own page, with its cities and meetups.
