🇧🇯 Benin
People from Benin in France meet here, city by city. Each community is a neighbourhood, not a crowd, so if yours is missing, start it.
According to the United Nations, 31,600 people from Benin live in France.
Therefore France ranks number 5 among the destinations of the Benin diaspora.
In total, 724,000 people from Benin live abroad, and about 4% of them live in France.
However, the figure counts migrants, not their children born here. The real community is therefore larger.
On Compatri, people from Benin already meet in Lille and Paris.
Each community brings together members of the same city, so you meet neighbours rather than a crowd.
In total, 6 members take part.
There, the largest diasporas also come from Algeria, Morocco, Portugal, Tunisia, and Italy, according to the UN. Each one has its own page on Compatri, with its cities and meetups.
Compatri brings diasporas together where they live. First, you choose the community of your city. Then you discover what its members organise: meals, parties, afterworks or mutual aid. Finally, you message compatriots who share your interests.
You can also host your own meetup: a meal, an outing or a party. It then appears to members of your city, and you follow sign-ups from your account.
Your exact location never appears: other members only see an approximate area. In addition, joining a community and attending events costs nothing.
Every August 1, the national day brings the Benin diaspora together. Locally too, communities organise concerts, meals and gatherings.
According to the UN, about 31,600 people from Benin live in France. Their children born here do not count in this figure.
On Compatri, you will find them in Lille and Paris, for example. Each city has its own community, members and meetups.
Join the community of your city on Compatri, then attend the meetups its members organise. You can also host your own event.
According to the UN, the largest ones come from Algeria, Morocco, Portugal, Tunisia, and Italy.
Benin Independence Day falls on August 1. In France too, the diaspora celebrates it every year.
No. Joining your community, discovering nearby members and attending events stays free. The Starter and Advanced plans only add features to go further.
Elsewhere, the Benin diaspora also lives in Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Togo. Each country has its own page, with its cities and meetups.
